Day Three

Another good day. Had lots of energy and didn't even take a nap today. Walked around a little bit today and watched the supercross on the Speed channel. Kidneys continue to improve, no bad symptoms from the chemo. The food is actually quite good and the company is great. I really miss all my co-workers at the hospital and my friends everyday. I got to see Madelyn for about an hour. Julie was a trooper and slept in the little hide-a-bed for two nights in a row getting very little sleep. She has held up very well so far, all things considered.

  2. Hey, Dr. Huss!
Thank you for keeping up the blog. I don't know if you remember me, but I am the Clarence Ruth teacher that worked with Julie and you also delivered my little Hailey almost a year ago. Thinking about you! Keep your head up! Oh, and as you used to tell me... "lay off those hamburgers!" ;)

  3. Hi Doctor,
No nap! I took one for you today :) Glad you were able to spend some time with Madelyn. I am sure you made her a happy girl.
A first-grade teacher explains to her class that she is an Indianapolis Colts fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they are Colts fans too. Not really knowing what a Colts fan was, but wanting to be liked by their teacher, their hands fly into the air.

There is, however, one exception. Kelly has not gone along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different. "Because I'm not a Colts fan" she reports.

"Then," asks the teacher," What are you?"

"I'm a Chicago Bears fan," boasts the little girl.

The teacher asks Susie why she is a Bears fan.

"Well, my Dad and Mom are Bears fans, so I'm a Bears fan too," she responds.

"That's no reason," the teacher says. "What if your mom was a moron, and your dad was an idiot. What would you be then?"

Kelly smiles and says, "Then I'd be a Colts fan."
    Have a good night.

  4. Dr. Huss,
You are in our prayers. I know you are such a strong man. Please if you or Julie need anything, anything at all, feel free to call me. My cell is 717-1820. I know what this is like for the entire family. Knowing firsthand, there may be a day you just need a grocery store run for Dreyers popsicles! Please do not hesitate to call me! You will succeed in this battle! :)
Love to you, Julie and Madelyn!

I shared the bolg site with Sherril and Anita, so they are able to keep up with your goings on as well. Take care and get well. Will continue to pray for you guys every day. You say your lucky....I say you are blessed. You must be doing something right.

    Talk to you again soon.

  6. Dr. Huss,

A friend sent over a forward to your blog after Anthony and I had heard the news. It sounds like you are in good spirits! We wanted to let you know that we've been praying for you and we hope that you get well soon!

Carter is doing great and we can't believe that it has already been 3 weeks since he's been born! Thank you so much for being such a great doctor throughout the pregnancy and we hope to see you soon!

  11. Dear Dr. Huss and Julie,

I am SOOOO happy to hear you are doing so well with your treatments! Hang in there! I know how hard it is to be cooped-up when your so active and always on the go. Cedric played litttle Cedric and Madelyn's christmas song for me last Friday on you tube. It was so good. You both must be proud. He said both kids are doing so much better now. She is a cute one. We really miss you around here!

    Love Jules

  12. Rod, you're my hero. I've done family medicine for 15 years and I don't think I've ever talked to a more upbeat or more brave new cancer patient. Your attitude is going to be like a 4th chemo drug in battling this. I say, keep attacking it like you would a new big double jump. Study it, consider the risks and benefits, pump your self up then kick it's butt!
