starting chemo #3

Just a short update. Tomorrow I leave for Cottage Hospital again for my third round of chemo for 5 or 6 days. I've been feeling pretty good now for a few days so I'm not looking forward to getting slammed again. Right now I feel like I'm cured already, but I know I have to pay the piper to make sure and to keep it(the cancer) away. A few days after I get back I'm going to try and work 1/2 days. I hope it works out.....I'm pretty sure I can do it. Hopefully this week will be my last 5 day chemo in the hospital "gig" and I'll be able to do the last 3 courses as out patient in Solvang. Talk to you later, bye.

You know we think about you daily and are praying for your complete recovery. We hope and pray this will be your last hospital stay. You're doing so well and you are so upbeat and brave. On your weakest days you've had more energy than I've ever had in my entire life! Hang in there...we love you and are rooting for you.

  5. Hey Buddy Boy!

When I left the room last night I rode down the elevator with Dr. Greenwald, of course I had to grill him about taking good care of you and I also asked about all of those milk shakes (I told him that I was your designated weight management specialist) and he said that the shakes were O.K. for now!!! So suck 'em up!

Hey everyone, I can't do my rounds Fri, Sat or Sun to take Rod his shakes, so someone better step up to take him a Chocolate shake every day!!

  6. Hi Doctor,
You have got the 90/10 principle down. Your positive attitute is an inspiration for all of us. Keep strong, you have a huge support when you are not feeling strong to hold you. :)
Here is a funny for you.
A Scotsman, an Irishman, and an Englishman are each sentenced to a year in solitary confinement; before being locked away, each is to be granted a year's supply of whatever he wants to help him get through the long, long spell alone.

The Scotsman asks for a year's supply of whisky; it's given to him and he's locked away.
The Irishman asks for a year's supply of Guinness so he's locked up with several thousand bottles of it.
The Englishman asks for a year's supply of cigarettes and he's given a pile of cartons and the cell door is shut on him.
One year later, their doors are all unlocked.

The Scotsman staggers out and shouts, 'I'm free!' and then keels over dead from alcohol poisoning.
The Irishman is dragged out into the light, whereupon he promptly dies of liver failure.
When the door to the Englishman's cell is opened, everybody watches eagerly to see what sort of a wreck the man has made of himself.

To their surprise, he walks right out the door, sidles up to the first person he sees, and asks, 'I say you wouldn't happen to have a match, would you?'
Have a great day. Keep up the block and dodge.
    Hugs and love,
    Janet

  8. Hi Doctor,
Hope you are doing well at home. Here is a funny for your dose of laughter.
    The funny story is called:
    "50 Dollars is 50 Dollars"
Morris and his wife Esther went to the state fair every year, and every year Morris would say, 'Esther, I'd like to ride in that helicopter. 'Esther always replied, 'I know Morris, but that helicopter ride is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars.'

One year Esther and Morris went to the fair, and Morris said, 'Esther I'm 85 years old. if I don't ride that helicopter, I might never get another chance.' Esther replied, 'Morris that helicopter is 50 dollars and 50 dollars is 50 dollars.' The pilot over heard the couple and said, 'folks I'll make you a deal. I'll take the both of you for a ride; if you can stay quiet for the entire ride and not say a word I won't charge you! but if you say one word, it's 50 dollars.'

Morris and Esther agreed and up they went. the pilot did all kinds of fancy manoeuvres, but not a word was heard. he did his dare devil tricks over and over again, but still not a word. When they landed, the pilot turned to Morris and said, 'by golly, I did everything I could to get you to yell out, but you didn't . I'm impressed!'

Morris replied, 'well I almost said something when Esther fell out, but, you know, 50 dollars is 50 dollars!'
Hang in there. We all love you and think about you and your the hard work you are doing everyday to fight this nasty beast.
    Hugs and love,
    Janet
