Finally had another ride day

After no Saturday ride days for over a month, we finally had a ride day on 4/17/10. The turn out was great. After all that has happened over the past month it was so nice to have all my motocross buddies and their families out to the track. It really recharged my batteries. Of course, I didn't ride, but I was able to work the track with the tractor the day before the ride and I managed to keep water on the track so everyone could have a great ride day. There is no other activity in my life that makes me feel more alive than motocross. The camaraderie and deep lasting friendships all enrich this special activity. I had a very special treat tonight. I got a phone call from Roger DeCoster!!! I was fortunate enough to establish a friendship with Roger some years ago. He has enriched my life ever since. For you nonmotorcycle guys, he is simply called "The Man." His current day job is team manager for Suzuki's motocross team but he also is the biggest ambassador of the sport of motocross in the world. He is probably the busiest guy on the planet but he still found time to make my day with a phone call when he heard of my illness. Talk about lifting my spirits. Wow!! Many thanks to Mark Trabuco and Key Symer for tipping him off. P.S. Janet, you're a peach. I'll come to say hi soon.

Rod

  2. Eric will be jealous! He also thinks Roger DeCoster is "The Man". He tried to meet him when we were at Las Vegas, but just missed him!

  3. Hi Doctor Huss,
Glad to hear about your weekend and your re-energizing. How terrific to talk to "The Man". Here is a funny for you.

Rosie Hall buys a self-assembly, flat-pack, cupboard from her local Homebase store.

Reaching home Rosie reads the instructions carefully, counts the pieces then assembles the cupboard in the bedroom. It looks really great and she is delighted.

Now, Rosie lives near a railway line and as the train passes by the cupboard collapses. Undaunted by this misfortune she re-reads the instructions and reassembles the cupboard. Once more, another train passes and the whole cupboard collapses again.

Rosie now frustrated and thinking that she must have done something "wrong" re-re-reads the instructions and re-re-assembles the cupboard. Shortly, a train passes and the whole cupboard collapses yet again for the 3rd time.

Rosie is now fed up, cross and rather angry so she 'phones the customer service department. She is told that this is quite impossible and that they'll send along a fitter to take a look.

The fitter arrives and assembles the cupboard. Again, a train passes and the cupboard collapses. Completely baffled by this unexpected event, the fitter decides to reassemble the cupboard and sit inside it to see whether he can find out what causes the cupboard to collapse. At this point, Rosie's husband comes home, sees the cupboard and says, 'Oh, that's a splendid looking cupboard,' and he opens it to look inside.

The fitter, who had been wondering how to explain his position in Rosie's bedroom cupboard, blurts out, 'You probably won't believe me, but I'm standing here waiting for a train.'

    Hugs & Love,
    your 'peach'

  4. Doctor, you made my day yesterday. It was very good to see you and hug you. I had a better day because of you. You look great. Keep up the good work with your battle. I found a little tid bit about hugging.
A study done by Tiffany Field of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami Medical School showed touch lowers output of cortisol, a stress hormone. When cortisol dips, there's a surge of two "feel good" brain chemicals, serotonin and dopamine.
    It certainly worked for me.
My Dad found an old picture of Roger at Spillway. Well, my dad is pretty sure it is at Spillway. Any who, I will print it off for you.
Take it easy, do not over do it now that you are feeling better.
    Hugs and love,
    Janet
p.s. Pass on a hug to Julie and Madelyn for me.

  6. Hi Doctor,
Hope you have been enjoying the nice weather.
Here is a dose of laughter for you.
A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon.
so, he brought four worms and placed them into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.
The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.
The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol - Dead.

The second worm in cigarette smoke - Dead

Third worm in chocolate syrup - Dead

Fourth worm in good clean soil - Alive.

So the Minister asked the congregation -
What can you learn from this demonstration?
Maxine was sitting in the back, quickly raised her hand and said, "As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!"

That pretty much ended the service --
    Have a great week.
    Hugs and Love,
    Janet

  7. Hi Bro. I've worked on a tractor. That is the hardest work, while sitting on your butt, that I have ever done. You must be getting better.
Glad to hear that things are getting better with each consecutive chemo experience, and that your spirits are staying high. Most of my friends that had cancer...which was prostate cancer...had to have radiation afterwards. That really messed up their digestion process. I hope you don't need that later.
I made my appointment for an annual physical (I do that every year around my birthday)and I will have them check for everything. We need to keep each other alive to enjoy the 'golden years'.
    Take care, and love you

  10. Hi Dr. Huss,
Hope all is well with you. You are in round three? Those boxing gloves looked pretty good. You got your track watered last night. Suppose to be a nice weekend of sunshine. Hope you are feeling well and can enjoy it. Here is a short redneck joke.
A Tennessee couple - Earl and Wanda both bona fide Rednecks have nine children. They went to the doctor to see about getting Earl "fixed". The doctor gladly started the required procedure and asked them what finally made them make the decision. Why after 9 children would they choose to get fixed?
Earl responded that he had read a recent article that 1 in 10 children born in the United States are Mexican, and they did not want to have the chance of having a Mexician baby because neither of them could speak spanish.
Not sure if this was one of Foxworthy's.
    Thinking about you.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs and Love,
    Janet
